Versus Names Anthony Vaccarello New Creative Director
Versace-owned label Versus has appointed creative director Anthony Vaccarello. The Paris-based designer will be responsible for both men's and women's collections.
"I've followed Anthony's work from his very first collection; as soon as I met him I realized immediately he was the one, he gets it, his talent screams Versus Versace," Donatella Versace, who will remain with the brand as artistic director, told WWD.
"I love his fresh energy and innovation, and I love being surrounded by a talent which brings newness to Versace," she said.
His first collection for Versus will be for the fall 2015 season. The designer did not confirm if this would be during Milan Fashion Week.

"It will be presented when it will be ready. We haven't defined yet how, when or where it will be shown. It's a surprise," Vaccarello told WWD.
"Versus is cool, young and easy with an edge. It's an additional opportunity to express another side of my vision. And it's fun to work with Donatella," he added.
The brand started in 1989 and then, in 2013, Versace flipped the company. She launched a season-less line with a strong digital element, to be designed by Donatella Versace herself, in collaboration with numerous young designers, stylists and creative talents.
Vaccarello told WWD that he had "no plans to change the mood" of the line, maintaining its '90s vibe.
In Dec. 2013, the designer launched a collaborative collection with Versus.
"Anthony's clothes have everything that I love: they are sensual, dynamic, daring," Versace said at the time.
"He is a natural, and has the confidence and talent to push fashion where he wants it and where it is relevant for today's women. I can't wait to collaborate with him, and to see Versus Versace through his eyes," she added.
