Alexis Mabille Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Exclusive Eveningwear Collection
Alexis Mabille announced he will be celebrating his eponymous brand's 10th anniversary with an exclusive eveningwear collection. The French designer hopes to capitalize on his red-carpet credentials.
Mabille has dressed celebrities including Keira Knightley, Zoe Saldana, Lady Gaga, Dita Von Teese, Léa Seydoux and Bérénice Bejo.
The eveningwear line will launch this month at the same time as Mabille's pre-fall collection. He will also celebrate the new collection with a party on Jan. 26 during Paris Couture Week.
The 12-piece eveningwear line will be priced from 800 euros to 6,000 euros (about $950 to $7,100) will feature many of the label's trademark "masculine-feminine" touches, including the designer's signature bows, tuxedo dresses and shirt details.
"We are aiming it primarily at American customers because over there, demand is strong and we dress a lot of celebrities. There is a real red-carpet feel to this collection, and at the same time, it's a comfortable collection," Mabille told WWD.

The upcoming eveningwear line is set to be available in stores starting in late June.
The designer also explained to WWD why he previously avoided designing ready-to-wear evening gowns, as he did not want to create any overlap with his couture creations. Eventually, this strategy left him with some bewildered clients.
"We have a strong couture image internationally, and it was sometimes frustrating for customers not to find cocktail dresses or evening gowns in stores," he told the publication. "In some markets, women are not yet ready to wait two-and-a-half to three months for their [custom-made] dress. They want their dress now."
Mabille has been trying to expand business internationally and has plans for upcoming shop-in-shops in Asia and additional standalone shops in the U.K. and Los Angeles. The brand currently has one standalone store in Paris.
The designer owns and runs the fashion house with his family. He told WWD that the 10-year-old label is currently in a good position.
